Reading your result
The score is a summary. These measurements show where the time goes. The thresholds are the ones Google uses.
90+
Out of 100. 90 and above is good, 50 to 89 needs improvement, below 50 is poor.
2.5s
When the main content appears. Under 2.5 seconds is good.
200ms
How long the page is too busy to respond to a tap. Under 200 milliseconds is good.
0.1
How much the layout jumps while it loads. Under 0.1 is good.
Common causes
A score is a starting point, not a diagnosis. When a WordPress site tests slowly, the cause is usually one of these, and often more than one.
Large images that aren’t resized or compressed.
Plugins loading scripts on pages that don’t need them.
A heavy theme or page builder doing more than the page needs.
Slow or overloaded hosting.
Third-party scripts such as chat, tracking and embedded video.
Questions
The things people usually ask about their result. Something else on your mind? Ask us directly.
The test simulates a mid-range phone on a slower connection, so it’s the tougher of the two tests Google runs. Most sites score lower on mobile than on desktop.
Lab tests vary with network and server conditions. Run it a few times and look at the pattern rather than one number.
No. Aim to get the measurements into the green. After that, a clear and useful page matters more than the last few points.
We keep the address and the score with the test record. The test doesn’t ask for your name or email.
Often, yes. Send us the address and your result, and we’ll tell you what we’d look at first, whether that’s images, plugins, the theme or hosting.
